Watch that movie/concert by yourself already

These are examples of perfectly understandable reasons for not seeing a film at the cinema when you want to or attending your favorite band or artist’s upcoming concert: “I have the flu.” “I’m getting my wisdom teeth pulled out.” “My aunt’s 80th birthday party is on that night.” “I’m a devout follower of Harold whatshisface and I need to stay at home and watch for signs of the rapture.” Or my most-used, “I’m hella broke.”
One excuse that should NOT be an excuse is “I have no one to go with.”
